Erlenmeyer Flasks

Erlenmeyers are used for a variety of purposes. They are used as distillation receiving containers, to hold different layers in an extraction, as reaction flasks, to heat solvent for crystallizations, as the crystallization flask, etc. The sloping sides make them the best choice for a recrystallization flask, since they reduce the amount of hot solvent lost to evaporation.
