The John S. Meek Teaching Award
The John S. Meek Teaching Award was established as a CU Foundation endowed fund by John Meek in the late 1970s. Dr. Meek was a professor of organic chemistry at the University of Colorado from 1945 to 1978. He had broad interests and published articles in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Organic Chemistry and Journal of Chemical Education, as well as Organic Synthesis and Science.
The Meek Award recognizes organic chemistry teaching assistants who show "Excellence in Teaching". Student evaluations (FCQs) and faculty and staff assessments of teaching assistant performance all help determine the recipients.
